The charitable Rauch Family Foundation of MAHA donates over EUR 35,000 to the Körperbehinderte Allgäu gGmbH in Kempten for the purchase of various aids in their facilities. Looking back on the past year, a further donation of EUR 7,000 went to the mountain rescue service in Sonthofen, Oberallgäu. For many years now, the private charitable foundation has been helping people who have fallen on hard times through no fault of their own.
Haldenwang, 10 June 2021. The Körperbehinderte Allgäu gGmbH was able to enjoy valuable help in the form of donations from the charitable foundation both last year and this year. The company, which has had regional roots for 60 years, works with the philosophy of “Living together, being there for each other”. It supports people with disabilities in leading as self-determined a life as possible in the midst of our society. The facility is a large family with more than 500 employees and over 1,300 clients throughout the Allgäu region. In addition to an integrative day-care centre for children, the association also includes a special school, counselling services, residential and care services, a therapy centre, an after-care facility for stroke patients and inclusive businesses with work opportunities for people with disabilities.
Providing first aid correctly and quickly in an emergency is a huge challenge for many people. At this point, the non-profit Rauch Family Foundation has decided to support the Körperbehinderte Allgäu gGmbH: A semi-automatic defibrillator was installed in the entrance areas of both the Astrid Lindgren School and the Centrum Vivas. A defibrillator is a medical device used to treat cardiac arrhythmias by delivering shocks of electricity. Because of its construction and mode of operation, the device is particularly suitable for first aid by lay helpers.
Furthermore, “Innowalk”, a directional motorised standing and movement trainer, was purchased as an aid. It is aimed at children and young people with motor impairments, physical disabilities and severe multiple disabilities. The “Innowalk” has been in use in the therapy department at the Astrid Lindgren House since it was purchased. A MOTO-med rehabilitation sports device and a massage chair with stand-up function were also purchased for the residential groups.
“We are very pleased that, thanks to the renewed support of the Rauch Family Foundation, we can provide our assisted persons with important aids for their everyday lives and make a lasting investment in the safety of all visitors and employees in our facilities," says Dr. Michael Knauth, Managing Director of Körperbehinderte Allgäu.
"After the Körperbehinderte Allgäu gGmbH approached us with their donation request, we were very happy to make the necessary financial resources available," reports Anton Klotz, Chairman of the Foundation Board, after the official donation handover in Kempten.
Donation to the mountain rescue service Sonthofen
Last year, Anton Klotz also presented a further donation from the charitable Rauch Family Foundation to the volunteers of the Sonthofen mountain rescue team. These have been committed to the citizens for more than 95 years. One of their main tasks is to rescue disoriented or injured people in areas that are difficult to access. With approx. 500 operations per year, the Sonthofen mountain rescue team is one of the three most frequently called upon rescue teams in Germany.
The amount of EUR 7,000 donated last year was used to illuminate the night landing area for the helicopter of the Sonthofen Clinic (Allgäu Clinic Association). This investment facilitates the work of the professionals immensely, because now night operations are possible, which often could not be carried out in the past.
